Mt. Hope Community Garden Refresh #2
Mt. Hope Community Garden is the first community garden located in Southeastern San Diego, breaking ground in 2011. Project New Village leased the land from the city of San Diego in 2011 and today, PNV owns it. Mt. Hope is 1/3 of an acre with 40 garden beds and provides the opportunity for residents to grow their own food, host and attend workshops, events and gatherings.
In 2021, Love, Tito's sponsored a second Block 2 Block Garden Refresh event at the Mt.Hope Community Garden. The Block 2 Block initiative began in 2019 with three cities and now in 2022 has spread to 32 cities.
Studio Nectary collaboated wtih Mt Hope, PNV and Love, Tito's to create a work plan for the second Garden Refresh. There are future plans for the site, so many of the ideas implemented during this event were to support future community workshops, facilitation and support the future development.
